Nine Star Ki Astrology is a science that reveals how our present energies connect with natural and cosmological energy cycles. Just as we would not dream of going through life without paying attention to our biological clocks (i.e. not eating dinner at breakfast time) why not understand the spiritual clocks and the cycles of change, destiny and fate that we all move through?

We have to understand this elegant flow of Time, Space and Movement.  Our movement is ruled by five energies in relation to our natal (birth) energies of time, within the space of our life's journey and the movement is the activity of our life force within the structure of this time and space, meaning our destiny.  

Within the interplay of Yin and Yang, there exists the theory of five transformations based on the energy of solar system's nine planetary bodies, our earth's orbit around the sun and the influence of the sun in relation to the rotation of earth itself.

These create the cycles of change-giving us annual cycle of 9 years, monthly cycle of 9 months and daily cycle of 9 days.

The annual cycle moves one notch on 4th February each year-causing our natal (birth) energies of time moving into a different zone of one of the five elements. Each zone has certain elemental energies, which either nourish the birth sign, be nourished by the birth sign or conflicts with the birth sign. Our success or lack of it depends on the influence of this flow of energy.

Let us assume that you do not know your own character number (first number of the three which makes up the character) under the 9 Star Ki Astrology. It is easy to work it out. From 9 to 1: For 5 earth people, year 2008 was the time for limelight and an extremely busy period. It was a fast moving year. Fire supports the earth and therefore they got a comfortable year by fire and received recognition and fame. We are referring to Carla Bruni, Richard Branson and Rafael Nadal. They will all be somewhat uncomfortable in the zone of 1 water in 2009 as they are visiting the elemental zone they control. For 2009, they will be planning, conserving and researching.

From 1 to 2: 6 metal people were in 1 Water zone in 2008, the zone with lowest activity but hard work. They will enter the year of germination with a sigh of relief, as their activities will increase in the 2-earth zone, which they will find very supportive element as if they are in their parent’s home. Here we are talking about Madonna who got a large settlement after the divorce and Kenneth Clarke who has been invited to join the Tory cabinet. They will be planting seeds for future growth and clearing the past excess. Their activities will pick up the momentum.

From 2 to 3: 7 metal people had two years of doldrums. They will enter zone of 3 Wood where they may be uncomfortable to an extent but they will be fine as they enter the zone of the element they control; and for them it will be a year of new projects and a lucky year of sprouting. Here we are talking about Kate Winslet, who just won a golden globe award and David Beckham, David Cameron and Prince Harry who will do well too.

From 3 to 4: 8 Earth people are moving into the zone of rapid growth. 8 Earth-star in the 4 wood zone means accelerated growth, more good luck and more new projects. Danny Boyle, the director of Slum Dog Millionaire –has just won the golden globe award and his Indian film has been nominated for 10 Oscars in 2009. But often the situation will be outside the control of earth people. This results from the fact that wood dominates the Earth.  4 wood zone is the unstable zone as the momentum of growth like the one in late spring can topple the person if one is not careful. This energy will affect Hillary Clinton in her new political career, Camilla Parker Bowles and also Liz Hurley.

From 4 to 5: 9 Fire people move into the Center in 2009 (5 earth zone). A year of ups and downs for them-.unpredictable year of maturity and an end to the present cycle and start of a new cycle of 9 years. Following will reinvent themselves and be more in the limelight. George Bush after his term of critical Presidency of United States, Bill Clinton and Bruce Willis. They will all be somewhat drained being in the 5 earth zone, the energy of their child (element earth). The year could be unpredictable like a roller coaster ride with the benefit for them of being the center of attention during the whole year.

From 5 to 6: 1 Water people are moving into the zone of Heaven –6 metal as if arriving at their parent’s home. Nelson Mandela, Nicolas Sarcozy and Jamima Khan will be reaping the benefits of their hard work in the previous three years and will feel being in the harvest field. It is a rewarding zone to be in. The rewards can be tangible or intangible.

From 6 to 7: 2 Earth people will get into 7 metal zone-for a year of abundance, joy and celebration. Earth produces the metal-It will be like visiting their children. The classic example here is that of Tony Blair whose projected earnings for 2009 are anticipated to prove the joyful energy of this zone. Kevin Pieterson our ex-cricket captain will have a year of relaxation and enjoyment as this zone also represents autumn or an evening after the day’s work. 

From 7 to 8: 3 wood people will enter the zone of 8 Earth-the element they control but they will have to be very careful as this zone represents a mountain cave of stillness and calm. They will become less communicative and in fact it will be wise for them to keep quiet and do more of self-reflection. It is a zone with the energy of tough period and difficult time. The question they will ask themselves is ‘Where do I go from here?’ Pervez Musharaff of Pakistan is an example but The new president of United States Barack Obama will also enter this zone when he has taken charge of a desk with an ‘In Tray’ full of problems to be solved.

From 8 to 9: Last but not the least -- 4 wood people will enter the 9- Fire zone and will get lot of exposure in 2009. Wood fuels the fire –and the wood gets consumed as well in the process. However they will be in the limelight or will be placed under the magnifying glass to see what they can do and what they cannot do. What a test it will be for our Gorden Brown (who is trying desperately to balance the economy of UK), Andy Murray who is going to ‘have a go’ at winning big tennis titles in 2009. Katherine Zeta Jones also will be more in the media for her new film ventures.
